Whanau Values

At Western Heights School we aim to cater for the whole child. We seek to find the excellence and strengths in every child, to offer opportunities for those talents to be recognised, developed, extended, and rewarded. This builds the child’s self-esteem and so gives them confidence to do better in areas where they are not so strong.

As a Principal I maintain an open-door policy. If you or your child needs to see me, I am available at any time and will be happy to meet with you. If you would like to offer your help in any way or would like to know more about any of the programmes mentioned, please feel free to contact me at any time. At Western Heights School, most visits to the office are from children wishing to share their excellent work and special talents, and we receive lots of visits.

We have wonderful children at Western Heights School. We place great emphasis on providing a place where children feel safe and secure. They are taught from day one that they are part of our school ‘family’. This concept is termed ‘Whanaungatanga’ and means ‘the culture of familiness’. Children thrive in a loving, supportive, challenging and positive family environment and this is what we aim to provide.
